Environmental activities launched in Kobani on World Environment Day
The Environment Body of the Euphrates Canton in North and East Syria and students from Kobani University have launched a series of events to mark World Environment Day.
In celebration of World Environment Day, observed on June 5, the Environment Body of the Euphrates Canton, in cooperation with Kobani University students, initiated a series of awareness-raising and environmental activities in the city of Kobani.
The first activity included distributing the book “Democratic Ecological Society” to local councils and communes, as well as handing out flower seedlings to be planted in neighborhoods and institutions. This initiative aims to raise environmental awareness and promote a culture of nature protection within the local community.
These activities are scheduled to continue over three days. On the second day, a forum titled “Women and the Environment” will be held, highlighting the crucial role of women in environmental protection and the development of sustainable communities. The events will conclude on the third day with the distribution of stickers and the installation of awareness banners about environmental protection and nature conservation throughout Martyr Kocer Forest in Kobani.
Organizers emphasized that these initiatives are part of efforts to promote a sustainable environmental approach and to encourage community involvement in protecting the environment and preserving biodiversity.
