Energy Ministry warns of rising Euphrates water levels

The Energy Ministry warned residents of Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa against approaching the Euphrates riverbed or swimming in the river, as the amount of water released from the Kdeiran Dam is being increased to 900 cubic meters per second, with an expected rise to 1,000 cubic meters per second.

The ministry announced that water releases from the Kdeiran Dam would be increased to 900 cubic meters per second starting Sunday, while water inflows from the Turkish side are expected to rise over the following two days, reaching 1,000 cubic meters per second.

The ministry urged residents of Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa to exercise caution, stay away from the Euphrates riverbed and avoid swimming in the river in anticipation of rising water levels.
