Druze–U.S. talks on ceasefire stabilization in Sweida 

U.S. Congressman Ibrahim Hamadeh and the spiritual leader of the Druze community in Israel, Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif, held a meeting in Julis, northern Israel, to discuss ways to stabilize the ceasefire in Sweida and establish a humanitarian corridor under American supervision.

In light of the ongoing situation in Sweida, Congressman Ibrahim Hamadeh met with Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif at his residence in Julis, located in the Acre region of northern Israel.

The two sides discussed the potential American role in reinforcing the ceasefire in Sweida and opening a safe humanitarian corridor to deliver medical and humanitarian aid to the city.

They also explored proposals for reaching a long-term political solution, stressing the need for U.S. involvement as a guarantor and sponsor of an agreement that ensures security, safety, and protection of the rights and status of the Druze community in Sweida.

During the visit, the Druze community’s Situation Assessment and Monitoring Committee presented a detailed briefing on the humanitarian and field conditions in Sweida, in light of recent developments and violations affecting civilians.
