The Newroz Activities Committee in the city of Derik has begun decorating the city's entrances and several main roads in preparation for the Newroz Festival, which falls on March 21st each year.

The committee started on Wednesday morning hanging Kurdish flags and symbols at the city's entrance and along the main streets, a move aimed at creating a festive atmosphere as the occasion, a symbol of freedom and a source of special significance for the peoples of the region, approaches.

The decorations include flags and symbols of the Kongra Star, the People's Protection Units (YPG), and the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), along with images of leader Abdullah Ocalan and flags of the Martyrs' Families Council.

According to the Activities Committee, residents are scheduled to begin lighting the Newroz torch daily in the city starting on March 14th, with the festivities continuation until March 21st, when the main celebrations will take place.
