Today, the Democratic Peoples’ Council in the Euphrates Canton issued a statement to the public, which was read in front of the Democratic Autonomous Administration’s headquarters in Kobani. The statement was delivered by the council’s co-chair, Roshen Mahmoud, in the presence of members and representatives of the Autonomous Administration and political parties.

The statement read: "The Democratic Peoples’ Council in the Euphrates Canton strongly condemns the Turkish state's criminal acts and schemes targeting infrastructure and service facilities in the regions of NE Syria. These actions aim to terrorize civilians and force their displacement to empty the region of its original inhabitants and carry out demographic changes.

This is evident in the Turkish occupation’s and its terrorist mercenaries' attempts to seize control of the strategic Tishrin Dam, which supplies the region with electricity and water. The Turkish occupation is using drones, warplanes, and artillery to strike the dam's structure, posing a significant risk to its integrity. This could lead to the collapse of subsequent dams, endangering the lives of millions of civilians along both banks of the Euphrates River in Syria and Iraq, in addition to the risk of an environmental and agricultural disaster.

The Turkish state and its mercenaries have a broader objective beyond attacking and controlling the dam. Through this assault, the Turkish occupation seeks to expand its control over more areas in eastern Euphrates, especially the city of Kobani, where ISIS was defeated and which stands as a global symbol of resistance against terrorism. Turkey aims to revive the glory of the Ottoman Empire, a dream that still haunts the sick fantasies of the Turanists.

The heroic fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces have displayed legendary resistance against the brutal invaders, sacrificing many of our sons and daughters in this struggle. Many civilians have also lost their lives due to attacks by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, including those who were part of a peace convoy demanding the protection of civilian infrastructure.

Failing to seize control of the dam and the region, the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries unleashed their wrath on defenseless civilians in the market of the city of Serrin, where many civilians and children were martyred. Day by day, the blind hatred of the Turkish occupation towards all the peoples of NE Syria becomes more evident. Therefore, as a moral duty, the world must recognize the Turkish President Erdogan as the greatest terrorist in the world.

We, the Democratic Peoples’ Council in the Euphrates Canton, highly honor these sacrifices of our heroes and support their steadfastness. We also call on the International Coalition, the international community, and human rights organizations to exert efforts to deter the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries from continuing their aggression against this region, its service facilities, and its innocent civilians."
