The Democratic Peoples’ Council in the North and East Syria region has approved the 2025 budget, with a deficit estimated at $234.6 million.

The Council held its 111th session, where the draft law for the 2025 fiscal year budget was unanimously approved.

The session was attended by council members from the seven cantons, along with the co-chairs of the executive councils.

According to the approved budget, total estimated expenditures amount to $1.09 billion, while revenues are estimated at $855.47 million, resulting in a financial deficit of $234.65 million, which represents about 21.5% of total spending.

All financial provisions, including the mechanism for addressing the deficit, were unanimously approved.

The session opened with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs' souls, followed by a detailed presentation of the budget proposal by the council’s co-vice president, Yasser Al-Suleiman. The budget items were discussed and voted on separately.

At the end of the session, the draft law for the 2025 fiscal year budget was approved, to take effect starting January 1, 2025.
