Death toll from Jaramana bombing rises to 16

The Ministry of Health announced that the death and injury toll from the bombing that targeted a public transport minibus, locally known as a “service,” at the Al-Rawda intersection in Jaramana, Damascus countryside, has risen to 16. The ministry said the figure is preliminary and could increase, adding that the injuries range from serious to minor.

Social media platforms and accounts circulated a statement attributed to a group calling itself the “Manbar (Forum) Ansar al-Rasoul,” which claimed responsibility for the bombing. However, no official confirmation has yet been issued by the relevant authorities regarding the identity of those behind the attack.

The bombing came hours after residents and religious leaders in Jaramana issued a statement stressing the importance of national unity and preserving civil peace, while rejecting all forms of incitement and external interference. They also called for the law and justice to be applied equally to all, without discrimination.

The statement said Jaramana represents a model of co-existence and reaffirmed commitment to Syria’s territorial and national unity. It rejected any attempts to undermine security or fuel division, and called for confronting hate speech and incitement while enabling official institutions to carry out their role in maintaining security.
