Committees overseeing the cases of unregistered Kurds have set June 28 as the date to begin interviews with applicants seeking Syrian citizenship under Legislative Decree No. 13 of 2026, following the completion of the application submission phase.

Hasakah Governorate announced on its official Facebook page the first batch of interview appointments for applicants covered by the decree, publishing the names of those scheduled for interviews along with the dates of their appointments.

According to the published lists, interviews will be conducted at several centers across the Jazira region, including in the cities of Hasakah, Derbasiyah, Qamishlo, Derik, and Jel Agha, with the interview process set to begin on June 28.

The application process opened on April 6 and continued until May 6, before being extended for an additional week, as part of the implementation of Legislative Decree No. 13 of 2026, issued by the Syrian Interim Government on January 16, 2026, which grants Syrian citizenship to Kurdish residents classified as Maktoumeen al-Qaid.

On May 23, the Interior Ministry of the Syrian Interim Government announced that the committees responsible for receiving citizenship applications from Kurdish applicants had registered 2,892 family applications, covering 10,516 individuals across several Syrian governorates.

According to the ministry, Hasakah Governorate recorded the highest number of applications, with 2,772, followed by Aleppo Governorate with 75, Damascus with 32, while the remaining applications were submitted in Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor governorates.
