The Generators Committee revealed to ANHA agency its report about the start of the countdown to the cessation of all diesel generators supplying the Sheikh Maqsoud and Achrafieh neighborhoods with electricity.

The committee indicated during its report that the two neighborhoods include 22 diesel generators for morning , which supply the industrial and commercial sectors with electricity, and operate 8 hours daily, starting from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., with an hour break, at a subsidized price of 20,000 Syrian pounds (excluding Fridays). ), 22,500 Syrian pounds (including Friday) per week.

In addition to the presence of 49 diesel generators for night power, which have been operating to supply homes with electricity for only 3 hours, for about a month and a half, due to the lack of fuel, at a subsidized price of 3,000 Syrian pounds per week.

The price of one ampere in areas controlled by the Damascus government for a period of 9 hours of operation per week is 90,000 Syrian pounds, which increases the suffering of civilians amid the absence of government support to fix the electricity problem that afflicts the entire Syrian geography.

The Generators Committee confirmed, during its submitted report, that the available amount of reserve stock is sufficient to operate the generators until Friday (12/8/2023) only, which indicates that the two neighborhoods are following in the footsteps of Shahba Canton in the siege crisis reaching its peak with the total loss of electrical power.

The problems of providing electricity through generators are not limited to providing fuel, but the Damascus government also prevents the passage of what is necessary for it, which indicates that they are aware that these actions will lead to a power outage in the two neighborhoods.

As for the weekly diesel needs of the 2 neighborhoods, the committee noted that they need about 300 barrels per week to operate the generators at the same current pace.

The Generators Committee of the People's Municipality in the 2 neighborhoods recommended the necessity of working to provide the necessary diesel by breaking the siege to operate the electricity generators that supply homes at the lowest normal rate for the population, which is 6 hours a day.

The People's Municipality in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in Aleppo issued a statement on November 2, confirming the suspension of all its service activities as a result of the siege imposed by the Damascus government.
