The recent massacres against Alawite civilians on the Syrian coast have sparked widespread anger among Syrians, with residents denouncing them as brutal and inhumane crimes.

In this context, Khalil Qado, a resident of Darbasiya, stated: "The massacres against Alawites on the Syrian coast are barbaric and unjustifiable, and the responsibility lies with Ahmed Al-Sharaa. The international community must intervene and hold the perpetrators accountable."

He further emphasized: "Neither the prophets nor Islam condone such horrific acts of killing. These crimes have no connection to Islam. In North and East Syria, we have coexisted peacefully with Arabs, Syriacs, and Assyrians for years without witnessing such atrocities. The international community must act immediately to prosecute the killers and prevent the recurrence of these crimes."

A History of Massacres—From Sinjar to the Syrian Coast

Similarly, Hemrin Ali condemned the targeting of women and children on the Syrian coast, stressing that the perpetrators of these crimes are the same forces responsible for the atrocities against the Kurdish people in Sinjar and Afrin.

She declared:"Those who commit massacres against Alawites today are the same ones who carried out heinous crimes in Sinjar and Afrin. These crimes cannot go unpunished."

Ali also highlighted that the model of coexistence in North and East Syria offers a solution to prevent sectarian strife and mass killings. She affirmed that the revolutionary people's war and the unity of Syria’s diverse communities around the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) are the most effective means of protection.

 Religious Extremism—Fueling War and Massacres

Meanwhile, Farid Ismail pointed out that the mercenaries entering the Syrian coast are driven by an agenda of murder, looting, and the enslavement of women—just as they did in Afrin.

He stated:"These groups use false pretexts to justify their crimes, but their ideology is rooted in religious extremism and the incitement of sectarian strife. The only viable solution is to uphold the model of the democratic nation and pluralism—principles successfully defended by the SDF, which represents all components of Syrian society."

Calls for Accountability and Civilian Protection

The people of Darbasiya have called for urgent international action to prosecute those responsible for the massacres on the Syrian coast and to prevent a repetition of the tragedies witnessed in Sinjar and Afrin. They stressed that coexistence and pluralism are essential to ending sectarian conflicts and protecting all Syrians from further massacres and human rights violations.
