Today, the Democratic Autonomous Administration in Tabqa Canton, North and East Syria, issued a statement regarding the recent attacks carried out by armed groups affiliated with the Syrian transitional government on the city of Deir Hafer in the district, which resulted in a number of martyrs and injured individuals.

Members of the Democratic Autonomous Administration in Tabqa Canton, its affiliated institutions and bodies, political parties, the Zenobia Women’s Gathering, democratic community organizations, tribal elders, and religious figures participated in the statement in front of the administration building in central Tabqa.

The statement was read by Hussein Al-Daghem, Co-Vice President of the Council of Peoples in Tabqa Canton, and included the following:

“At a time when our people aspire to a safe and stable life after years of war and suffering, the hand of aggression continues to steal lives and sow fear among civilians. Today, Turkish occupation forces and their affiliates targeted the Deir Hafer crossing in a treacherous attack that does not distinguish between civilian and military, between patient and passerby.”

The statement condemned the ongoing attacks on the city of Deir Hafer and its populated villages, stating: “The Executive Council in Tabqa condemns, in the strongest terms, this attack, which comes despite the March 10 agreement with the Syrian government, which was supposed to be a step toward de-escalation and preventing further violence.”

The statement revealed that “the repetition of these attacks, the latest being today, demonstrates a blatant disregard for civilian lives and a complete violation of all international laws and political agreements. Innocent lives have been lost, and others have been seriously injured, including workers, employees, and ordinary citizens whose only fault was being in a location considered safe under these understandings.”

The statement appealed to “the global conscience, before any official or international body, to act to stop these repeated attacks that undermine stability and increase the suffering of the population.”

It called on “international powers, human rights organizations, and local and regional actors to assume their ethical and legal responsibilities to protect civilians and put an end to the repeated violations by the Turkish occupation.”

The statement emphasized: “We in the Executive Council of Tabqa Canton reaffirm our commitment to the path of peace and dialogue and reject the logic of war and aggression, which brings nothing but death and destruction.”

The statement extended “condolences to the families of the martyrs lost in this painful attack and wished a speedy recovery for the injured, affirming our solidarity with them in these difficult moments.”

In conclusion, the statement stressed: “The lives of the innocent are not mere numbers; they are irreplaceable stories. Let us stop the bloodshed and give this land a chance for peace.”
