DAA in Euphrates Canton: Targeting civilians is war crime requiring international accountability

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Euphrates Canton issued a statement today regarding the massacres committed by the Interim Government mercenaries against civilians in the countryside of Kobani, stating:

"Today, Monday, the factions affiliated with the Damascus government committed a horrific massacre against civilians in the village of Kharab Ashk in Al-Jalabiya, resulting in the deaths of five members of a single family and wounding five others. Another massacre occurred in the village of Al-Qasimiya in Al-Qanaya, claiming the life of a child and injuring three other children. This represents a serious escalation and a direct violation of the declared ceasefire in the area."

"These two massacres constitute a blatant violation of all international laws and norms, as targeting civilians is considered a war crime punishable under international law. This requires urgent intervention from the international community, human rights, and humanitarian organizations to hold the perpetrators accountable and immediately stop the attacks against the civilian population."

"The factions affiliated with the Damascus government continue to launch attacks on populated villages around Kobani despite the ceasefire agreement, employing drones, artillery, tanks, and various types of heavy weapons. These actions threaten the security and safety of civilians and risk committing further massacres against them."

"We call on the international community, human rights and humanitarian organizations, and the countries sponsoring the ceasefire agreement to fulfill their ethical and humanitarian responsibilities and to exert serious pressure to stop these ongoing violations and put an end to the breaches committed by these factions.
