Continuous shelling threatens lives of 70 patients at Khaled Fajr Hospital in Aleppo

Khaled Fajr Hospital in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo has been subjected to continuous artillery and missile shelling, directly threatening the lives of over 70 patients who have been hospitalized due to injuries sustained during the attacks in the area over the past three days.

Medical sources reported that the shelling intensified since midday today, with the hospital being targeted directly five times, leading to its shutdown. The situation is extremely dangerous both medically and humanitarianly, especially as dozens of critically injured patients remain in urgent need of medical care.

Since yesterday, the hospital has also suffered from power outages and fuel shortages due to the continuous targeting, hindering the work of medical teams and complicating the provision of necessary treatment for the injured.

The hospital currently houses three bodies of victims killed by the Free Syrian Government mercenaries: Adnan Aref Osman, Ali Haneef Osman, and Auria Abdul Hanan Horo.

Amid the ongoing shelling, Dr. Walat Mamo issued an urgent appeal from inside the hospital, calling on the public and humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately to protect the hospital and save the patients, but the attacks continue as of the preparation of this report.

This comes as the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, and Bani Zeid have been subjected since January 6 to intense shelling and continuous attacks, worsening the suffering of civilians and causing a serious deterioration in the humanitarian and health situation in Aleppo.
