Conclusion of 1st Conference of the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Ocalan

The activities of the first conference of the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan concluded at Al-Sharq University in the city of Raqqa, with a final statement that included several recommendations.

The final statement came after the end of the two conference sessions with four topics that dealt with topics related to the Imrali regime and the violations occurring against leader Abdullah Ocalan.

The statement read by Hind Daghestani, a member of the Syrian Initiative for Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s Freedom, said:

  “Under the title of violating international law in the case of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and truth and justice,” the first conference was held in Raqqa at Al-Sharq University on 10-12-2023, several points were recommended:

- Filing a lawsuit against Erdogan before the European judiciary

-Focusing on the countries that signed the Geneva Convention and forming legal committees to conduct political and legal tours to explain the issue of the leader’s arrest.

The issue was raised in the international media to expose Turkish practices

-Supporting all international initiatives and supporting the Leader’s Initiative

-Pressing international organizations around the world to exercise their legal and legal role in the leader’s case

- Holding a conference at the Middle East level and forming committees and human rights bodies to report violations to the relevant authorities.

-Filing lawsuits in North and East Syria by communicating with the Health Union in the North and communicating with World Health to uncover the health of the leader

-Sending a letter to the Greek Court of Justice in order to consider the case of Leader Ocalan

-Publishing the final statement in regional countries, intensifying activities in Syria throughout the world, and disseminating thought among peoples

Outputs included

Considering this conference as a platform for any human rights activity related to the case of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, and based on that, we work to communicate with all Arab and international capitals in a legal and legal manner and to ensure that criminal liability is established regarding what Turkey is committing against Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

Instituting lawsuits against Turkish officials in the Turkish state before international judicial authorities for crimes against humanity and genocide in the case of Leader Abdullah Ocalan

Demanding the European Committee against Torture to reveal the results of its visit to Imrali in September 2022, and the major powers, especially the United States of America, to change their position and their policy of duplicity in the case of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, which is a policy of silence towards what the Turkish state is committing against him on the one hand, and a policy of direct and indirect support on the one the other hand.

- Forming an international medical committee of all specialties to supervise the leader’s health condition

- Forming a committee of lawyers in all regions and countries to defend the case of Leader Abdullah Ocalan in international courts and work to internationalize his case.

Allowing the leader’s family and lawyers to meet him and break the isolation imposed on him

-As a result of the emergency circumstances that occurred as a result of the earthquake that struck Kemlik Bay in the Sea of Marmara, human rights authorities must oblige Turkey to change the leader’s location to a safe and stable place.”

It is noteworthy that the holding of the conference today coincided with the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as the world celebrates this day every year under a specific slogan determined by the United Nations General Assembly, and this year the theme of the 2023 celebration is: dignity, freedom and justice for all.

Political figures from all regions of NE,Syria, lawyers from the regions inside Syria from the cities of Homs, Hama, and Latakia, members of the Lawyers Union of North and East Syria, and members of the Doctors Union of North and East Syria participated in the first conference.

In addition to participation by human rights activists and civil society organizations in northern and eastern Syria, members of the Popular Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, tribal sheikhs and notables, members of the Zenobia Women’s Association, members of the Democratic Civil Administration in the cities of Raqqa and Tabqa, and the co-chair of the General Council in the Autonomous Administration of North and East.
