Components of NE Syria prepare to hold conference

The preparations for the “ Unity of Stance Conference for North and East Syria Components” are being organized by the region’s diverse communities, including Kurds, Arabs, Syriac-Assyrians, Armenians, Yazidis, Turkmen, and Circassians.

The conference will be held under the slogan: “Together for diversity that strengthens our unity, and partnership that builds our future.”

According to information provided by Jowan Malla Ibrahim, a member of the conference’s preparatory committee and co-chair of the Media Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, the preparatory committee consists of around 20 members representing the region’s components from all cantons of the region. Ibrahim explained that since June 2025, the communities of North and East Syria have been preparing for the event as a grassroots initiative.

He noted that attempts to incite discord among Syria’s communities have intensified following the collapse of the Baath regime, and that the participants in this conference aim to reaffirm the unity of the components in pursuit of building a decentralized and democratic Syria.

According to Jowan Malla Ibrahim, many community, cultural, religious, spiritual, and social figures have been invited to take part in the conference. The number of delegates is expected to range between 400 and 500.

During the conference, a draft document currently being prepared by the preparatory committee will be discussed, and the event will conclude with a final statement.

The date and location of the conference have not yet been determined, but are expected to be announced soon.
