The General Command of the Internal Security Forces - North and East Syria Region issued a statement to the public opinion regarding the targeting of a car in the city of Derik, which stated:

"In light of the continued aggressive escalation by the Turkish occupation state on the regions of North and East Syria, the occupation forces recently targeted the Tishreen Dam, which is a vital artery that provides water and electricity to the Syrians. These attacks on vital infrastructure threaten a humanitarian and environmental disaster, and come within a plan to weaken the foundations of life in the region and increase the suffering of our people.

In an escalation of this aggression, a drone belonging to the Turkish occupation state targeted a white Hyundai Santa Fe civilian car this morning, Wednesday, January 8, at the intersection of the village of Garki Khajo, affiliated with the city of Derik.

The attack, which was carried out through two successive strikes, resulted in the martyrdom of one civilian and the serious injury of another, who was treated He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and is receiving the necessary treatment.

In another attack, a Turkish drone targeted a car in the Asayish Center in Kirk in the countryside of Kobani, which resulted in the injury of one of our members with the rank of non-commissioned officer. He was taken to the Kobani Hospital, where he is receiving treatment, and his health condition is good.

We, in the General Command of the Internal Security Forces in the North and East of Syria region, strongly condemn these attacks that target defenseless civilians and infrastructure, in a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms. We affirm our commitment to protecting our people and facing current challenges, and we call on the international community to assume its responsibilities and put an end to these ongoing crimes against our people and our regions.
