Civilian killed and another kidnapped in Swaida

Local sources in the city of Swaida reported today that a young man was shot dead, and that another civilian was abducted last week; his fate remains unknown.

The young man, Adham Azzam, died today from a gunshot wound. Local sources said the gunshot was fired by members of the Internal Security Forces affiliated with the interim government, stationed in the Mansoura area north of the city, in yet another violation of the declared truce.

According to a medical source, Azzam was transferred to the general hospital in Swaida in critical condition after being shot under his armpit. He died shortly after being admitted to the intensive care unit.

Field sources also indicated that there were other injuries that had not yet reached the hospital, but no confirmed information was available regarding their nature.

In a separate incident, local sources reported that members of the interim government stationed at the al-Matouna checkpoint abducted Iyad Khalil Dawara last Friday while he was working on the Damascus-Swaida road. The reasons for the abduction were not specified.

The sources stated that Iyad, who is in his fifties and works as a driver for a local company, had his personal phone searched before being detained, while his companion was allowed to return to Damascus.

They confirmed that the abducted man is a civilian with no pending legal cases or security record, his fate remains unknown.
