Cities of Darbasiyah and Garkê Legê rally for leader Ocalan’s physical freedom

Residents of Al-Darbasiyah, Tel Tamr, Dêrik, Çil Axa and Zarghan took part in two separate rallies today in Al-Darbasiyah and Dêrik, calling for the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan. Participants stressed that Ocalan’s ideas form a foundation for coexistence and called for support for peace efforts.

The first rally started from Martyr Xebat Square and proceeded through the city's main streets. Demonstrators carried portraits of Abdullah Ocalan and chanted, “No life without the Leader.”

Upon reaching the central market, the march turned into a rally. Participants observed a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs, after which Mohammed Abdul Rahim, an administrator of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Jazira, delivered a speech. He stated that the demand for leader Abdullah Ocalan’s physical freedom reflects the peoples’ desire for peace and democracy, adding that Öcalan’s ideas and projects have contributed to strengthening dialogue and understanding among different communities.

He added that leader Ocalan’s vision for a democratic solution has proven that dialogue is the best way to address crises, noting that his physical freedom would be an important step toward enhancing security, stability, and equal rights. He also called for support for peace and coexistence in the region.

Meanwhile, the Al-Darbasiyah rally, attended by residents of Tel Tamr and Zarghan, set off from the Serê Kaniyê Roundabout toward the city center. After observing a minute of silence, Aldar Khalil, Co-Chair of the Presidential Council of the Democratic Union Party, addressed the crowd. He said that all participants had gathered under the slogan of leader Abdullah Ocalan’s physical freedom, noting that Öcalan had dedicated his life to the pursuit of freedom and democracy.

Khalil added that leader Abdullah Ocalan has been resisting in prison for 27 years and remains a source of hope for peoples across the world and throughout Kurdistan. He said that leader Ocalan’s thought and philosophy continue to serve as a foundation for the struggle to build a democratic nation.

He further stated that leader Ocalan’s philosophy has contributed to promoting the concepts of free life and women’s liberation, emphasizing that the people continue their resistance in line with his ideas and philosophy, and regard him as a symbol of freedom and the pursuit of justice and liberty for all peoples.

The two rallies concluded with participants chanting, “No life without the Leader.”
