Ozel visited the leader of the New Welfare Party, Fatih Erbakan, and later made statements addressing the historic call made by Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

Ozel stated that Erdogan’s denial of the Kurdish issue with the phrase "There is no Kurdish issue" cannot be a solution, saying:

"To solve this issue, a comprehensive parliamentary effort must be undertaken without excluding any party, and all societal groups must be represented in this dialogue."

He added: "This matter must be taken seriously. The beginning and the end of this effort lie in democracy. The people of Turkey know the truth. I do not think it is appropriate for the ruling party and the President to mock the people's intelligence in 2025. If you want to start something, you must take responsibility and show sincere intentions. This issue is in your hands, and the choice is yours."

Criticism of Erdogan’s silence

Ozel stressed that Erdogan's failure to respond to proposed initiatives indicates his silence, saying:

"The positions are clear, but there is no explicit stance from one person. He knows everything but remains silent when the decision is in his hands. The time has come for him to take this issue more seriously. Everyone knows where each side stands in this equation. You are at the center of decision-making. You must be serious and frank, and you must not evade the truth."

He emphasized that Erdogan should not cowardly place all risks on his political partners or act solely in his own political interest. He must be clear and frank. He concluded: "If we truly want the best for our country, if we want to stop the bloodshed, if we want to uphold human dignity, if we want to prevent mothers from weeping, if we want to achieve peace, and if we want our Kurdish citizens to be free from these problems and enjoy equal citizenship in this country, then we support this solution."
