CENTCOM commander visits Syria during Middle Eastern tour

US Central Command said that Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla visited Syria as part of a Middle Eastern tour, and met with officials in the region to discuss the war against ISIS mercenaries and the situation of those affected by the conflict.

Today, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that its commander, General Michael Erik Kurilla, visited Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Israel to evaluate the security situation in the region.

The statement stated, "On February 28 and 29, General Kurilla visited US Central Command facilities in Jordan and Syria, including the Tower 22 site, the Al-Tanf site, and the Rumailan airstrip."

The statement indicated that in Syria, Kurilla visited "camps for displaced people in the Roj and Al-Hawl camps, where he met with officials and dozens of residents to discuss repatriation, rehabilitation and reintegration of both ISIS detainees and residents affected by the conflict."

According to the statement, on February 27, the American General visited Al-Arish and the Rafah crossing in Egypt to discuss the process of providing humanitarian aid from Egypt to Gaza, he visited Israel from March 28 to March 2, where he met with the Minister of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and a number of Israeli army officials.
