CENTCOM: 10 airstrikes target over 30 ISIS sites in Syria

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it carried out ten airstrikes targeting more than 30 ISIS sites in Syria as part of Operation “Hawk Eye Strike,” resulting in the killing or capture of more than 50 militants and the destruction of weapons depots and infrastructure.

CENTCOM stated that the strikes were conducted between February 3 and 12, as part of ongoing military pressure on the remnants of ISIS in Syria.

According to the statement, the strikes targeted ISIS infrastructure and weapons storage facilities, using precision-guided munitions launched from fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

The command also noted that five additional strikes had been carried out between January 27 and February 2, targeting an ISIS communications site, a logistics hub, and weapons depots.

CENTCOM indicated that Operation “Hawk Eye Strike” was launched in response to an attack on December 13 targeting U.S. forces in Palmyra, which resulted in the deaths of two American soldiers and a translator.

Over the course of two months of operations, more than 50 ISIS mercenaries were killed or captured, and more than 100 infrastructure sites were struck using hundreds of precision-guided munitions.
