The Federal Region of Southern Kurdistan is preparing for the parliamentary elections scheduled for tomorrow, October 20, while the electoral silence began on Tuesday.

The total number of candidates participating in the elections is 1,191 candidates; 823 males and 368 females, competing for 100 legislative seats in the Federal Region.

These elections are being held at a time when the Kurdistan Democratic Party continues to cooperate with the Turkish occupation army in order to occupy the region, in addition to the party that has dominated power for years, following a policy that serves the occupation and has caused the suffering of the Kurds.

In this context, NE Syria people called on Kurds to elect those who can protect the region from the occupation.

The member of the Martyrs' Families Council in the city of Hasaka, Najah Hawas, said that they hope that the elections will be held without fraud.

She expressed her hope that whoever wants good for Kurdistan, its land and its people will win.

"The Turkish occupation state is occupying parts of the region and building its military bases there, so the Kurds must unite together in confronting the enemies, "Najah Hawas added.

Hawas said that Nechirvan Barzani's visit to Turkey aims to support the election campaign of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, which cooperates with the enemy to occupy the land of Kurdistan.

For his part, the Co-Chair of the Democratic Union Party Council in the city of Hasaka Farhan Dawood said: "The elections that will be held are a great opportunity; because everyone knows the history of the Barzani family in supporting the Turkish occupation state, as more than 400 villages were emptied of their residents because of them."

Dawood explained that the Barzani family was unable to protect the Federal Region of Southern Kurdistan, and stressed that if this family wanted to change its course, it must first take a position against the Turkish occupation.

Dawood pointed out that these elections constitute a historic opportunity for the people of the Federal Region of Southern Kurdistan to elect those who can protect them, calling for the election of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan list in the elections.

Dawood said at the end of his speech: "These elections will determine their will for freedom, democracy and the unification of the Kurds in parts of Kurdistan."
