On Tuesday, Asayish Ezidkhan issued a statement to public opinion regarding the attack launched by the Turkish occupation army via a drone, targeting a car belonging to the ÇIRA TV and ÇIRA Radio crew, in addition to a car belonging to the citizens of Shengal.

Asayish Ezidkhan confirmed in its statement that the Turkish occupation carried out the attack via a drone and documented it with evidence through the pictures published by Asayish Ezidkhan of the remains of the projectiles launched by the Turkish drone.

The text of the statement read:

“Yesterday morning (7/8/2024), in the afternoon at11:30, a civil media vehicle on the Tal Qasab-Shengal road was attacked by an armed drone belonging to the Turkish state.

After the attack, our Asayish Ezidkhan forces began investigations at the scene of the incident. As a result of the research and according to the evidence, it was found that the attack was airborne by the Turkish state, and the evidence was documented in pictures.

According to the investigation, 6 civilians were injured, including journalists and a child.

Investigation results:

Journalists from Shengal were injured, one of them in critical condition. They are:

Media Hussein Kamal

Murad Mirza Ibrahim

Behind Khader Osman

3 civilians from Shengal, including a child, were injured as a result of the attack:

Ziad Elias Qassem

Majeed Gamal Rasho

Zilan Ziad Elias (8 years old)

After the attacks on journalists, disinformation campaigns appeared in the media intensified. The attack, which targeted media institutions, was described as targeting military forces. As a result of our investigation, it was found that all those injured were civilians.

Regarding the incident, some parties hostile to the Autonomous Administration of Shengal, such as Haider Shshu, published statements of cooperation on treason against Shengal. Haidar Shesho identified himself as a commander in Asayish Ezidkhan and gave misleading and false information on behalf of our forces. This person had also previously published information that was far from the truth and misleading against the people of Shengal, contributing to the legitimization of the attacks.

Attacks continue against the people of Shengal by the Turkish occupation state with the aim of terrorizing them. We, as the Asayish Ezidkhan force, declare once again that this attack will not weaken the will of our people and will never prevent them from returning to their homes.

We call on all our displaced people to return to Shengal, and not be afraid of attacks. In this way, we will thwart the plans of the enemies of Ezidkhan, and we are confident that our people will thwart all the plans of the enemies of the Autonomous Administration.

On behalf of the Asayish Ezidkhan leadership, and in accordance with Article 1738 of the UN Security Council regarding the right to protect the rights of children and media professionals, we call on the institutions and bodies concerned with the protection of rights and journalists to do their duty and investigate the incident.

In its turn, as Asayish Ezidkhan forces, we do our duty to preserve the lives of our people and continue to protect them by all possible means.”
