The Al-Asr Human Rights Office issued a statement regarding its clients Abdullah Ocalan, Omar Khairy Kunar, and Hamili Yildirim and Veysi Aktaş, about whom no information has been received in any form over a period of 3 years since March 25, 2021.

The Al-Asr Law Office explained that they have not been able to obtain any information in any way from their clients for 3 years, and confirmed that despite submitting judicial and administrative requests, they cannot hold the meeting, and it was announced in the statement that the severance of their client’s relationship with the outside indicates... That there is a "veil of secrecy" on Imrali Island.

The statement added: "The current absolute isolation continues in addition to the arbitrary practices as well as the 'judicial decisions' that have no place in Turkish legislation. The disciplinary penalties that are invoked as an excuse to prevent family visits and the decisions that obstruct the visits of lawyers are in violation of the legislation and also indicate that the decision-maker is... commits a crime, and in addition, the right to write letters and make telephone calls is also not recognized, while according to Mandela's standards, it is not possible to completely sever relations with the outside world, and the detainee must have the possibility of communicating with the outside world under all circumstances and conditions: In addition to not meeting the minimum standards, files and decisions that appear to be a pretext for these practices are being hidden from lawyers.

These current practices indicate that there is a veil of secrecy on Imrali Island, and regarding our clients who are detained in one of the island’s prisons, neither the family nor even the lawyers have any information in any way for 3 years, and we have no information regarding basic health and vital rights.
