Aho Hanna: world enjoys peace thanks to the thought of Leader Abdullah Ocalan

Aho Hanna, co-chairman of the Assyrian Democratic Party of Suraya, announced his desire to meet Leader Abdullah Ocalan, affirming his full support for the campaign aiming to achieve justice and physical freedom for Abdullah Ocalan. He noted that the campaign expresses the will of the peoples yearning for peace and democracy in the region.

Hanna explained that his acquaintance with the thought of Leader Abdullah Ocalan since the mid-1980s marked a fundamental turning point in his struggle, emphasizing that this thought has been a deep source of inspiration for him and for many peoples in the region.

He added, "Since the mid-1980s, I began to familiarize myself with the thought of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, and in the 1990s I read many of his books and notebooks. They left a profound impact on me and gave me a strong motivation to apply this struggle and intellectual experience in my life and serve our revolutionary people of various ethnicities Assyrians, Chaldeans, Kurds, and Arabs both inside the homeland and in the diaspora."

He pointed out that the sacrifices of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, alongside the ideas of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, sparked a deep intellectual revolution among the Kurdish people and contributed to launching a social and political movement that radically changed the reality. He added, "For the first time, Kurdish women organized themselves and took to the mountains to defend their people and cause. Thanks to this struggle, the state of extremism transformed into a path of liberation, modernization, secularism, and acceptance of others. The world that once lived in a state of terror now enjoys peace thanks to the thought of Leader Abdullah Ocalan."

Regarding the campaign launched under the slogan "I Want to Meet Abdullah Ocalan," Hanna affirmed, "We join our voice with all voices calling for this humanitarian initiative, aiming to achieve justice. Leader Ocalan was unjustly and arbitrarily arrested, tried without any legal guarantees, and sentenced to a punishment disproportionate to his historical role, while those who arrested him and committed atrocities against our people are the ones who deserve to be tried."

He continued, "We participate in this initiative with free will to achieve justice first, and then to release the leader so he can return and serve his people as he has done throughout his life."

Hanna stressed that the influence of the leader's thought on the peoples of North and East Syria has been profound, contributing to the establishment of values such as social justice, solidarity, and brotherhood among peoples. He added, "While we witness manifestations of extremism and barbarism in other regions outside North and East Syria, which lead to killing and massacres, we find in our regions a model of self-administration based on the thought of Leader Ocalan."

He concluded by saying, "This initiative will continue until it achieves its desired goal, which is the freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan the thinker, leader, and symbol of the freedom of peoples. We hope to reach this goal and appreciate the efforts of everyone who supported and contributed to this humanitarian initiative, which seeks freedom for all those unjustly detained and for all peoples."

The Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the Syrian Lawyers’ Initiative for the Defense of Leader Abdullah Ocalan announced on August 20 the launch of a signature campaign throughout Syria as part of the campaign "I Want to Meet Abdullah Ocalan.
