The people of Afrin who were forcibly displaced to the Tel Rifaat district of al-Shahba due to the attacks of the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries and their occupation of the region in March 2018, expressed their dissatisfaction with the ongoing attacks and the simultaneous siege, and stressed the continuation of the struggle until returning to Afrin.

Fatima Jaafar said: “The popular resistance and the people’s steadfastness in the face of the attacks of the Turkish occupation state are strengthening day after day. We will not leave Tel Rifaat until Afrin is liberated.”

Mohammad Bakr said: “Tel Rifaat is subjected to daily bombardment, but our resistance is stronger than the Turkish state’s shells. We will never give up our land. We are organizing ourselves wherever we are and we will fight until we return to Afrin.”

As for the displaced Hassan Murad, he said: “The popular resistance in Tel Rifaat will continue until the return to Afrin, and neither the attacks of the Turkish state nor the siege of the Damascus government will be able to hinder this resistance.”

Raja Hussein said: “The siege of the Damascus government or the attacks of the Turkish occupation state on al-Shahba have not abated for 6 years, but our people have chosen the path of resistance.”

The Turkish occupation state bombs on an almost daily basis, by land and air, various areas in Afrin and al-Shahba canton, those adjacent to the areas it has occupied in Afrin since 2018.

Coinciding with these attacks, the Damascus government imposed a stifling siege on the people of al-Shahba and those displaced from Afrin who have been living in camps in those areas since the arrival of the displaced.
