Dozens of Afrin IDPs gathered in front of the Afrin and Shahba Displaced Persons Association headquarters in the city of Derik, in the Jazira Canton, to deliver a public statement.

The statement was read by association member Nisrin Shabo, who emphasized that the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries continue to commit "the most heinous crimes and inhumane violations against the people of Afrin, amid a shameful international silence and without any concrete action to put an end to them."

The statement also added: “Following the victory of our people’s resistance and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on the frontlines, the SDF has become the guarantor and protector of political and military achievements. An agreement was reached between the transitional government and the SDF stipulating the return of the displaced to their areas and ensuring their protection. However, the transitional government has ignored this agreement, and violations by armed factions in Afrin have escalated.”

The statement concluded by calling on the United Nations and international human rights organizations to “intervene immediately and take responsibility to ensure a safe and dignified return for the displaced to their areas, the withdrawal of all armed factions from Afrin, the return of properties to their rightful owners, and the unconditional release of all detainees and prisoners.”
