Today, the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Jazera Canton issued a statement to the public on the occasion of the Assyrian-Babylonian New Year – Akitu 6775, which read as follows:

"On behalf of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Jazera Canton, we extend our warmest congratulations and blessings to our Assyrian Syriac people and to all the people of the region on the occasion of the Assyrian-Babylonian New Year – Akitu 6775.

This occasion, which reflects the depth of our shared civilization and embodies the values of renewal and rebirth, is an opportunity to strengthen brotherhood among the components of our society and to reinforce coexistence in the North and East Syria region. We aspire to extend this spirit to all of Syria, especially after the end of the era of the former regime, which opposed the various cultures and historical celebrations of Syria’s components.

We in the Autonomous Administration reaffirm our commitment to preserving the ethnic and religious diversity of our region and to supporting the traditional celebrations that reflect our rich historical identity.

To revive our inherited heritage, we call upon all the components of the North and East Syria region to participate side by side in celebrating Akitu, the Assyrian-Babylonian New Year.

We also invite everyone to take part in these celebrations on the first of April, which express our authentic identity and the spirit of brotherhood among the components of our society.

Wishing a happy new year to our Assyrian Syriac people and all the people of the region, hoping that this year brings peace, stability, and prosperity to all."
