Ahmed Al-Sharaa, nicknamed “Abu Muhammad Al-Julani,” yesterday, during a meeting with the UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, discussed ways to update Resolution 2254 in light of the current political changes in Syria.

During it, Ahmed Al-Sharaa said that the new situation requires reconsidering the decision to keep pace with new developments and reflect the current reality more accurately.

He stressed the need to enhance immediate and effective cooperation to address humanitarian and political issues in Syria, with a focus on preserving the unity of Syrian territories, supporting reconstruction efforts, and achieving sustainable economic development.

He explained that the current stage requires special attention to the political transition process and the rehabilitation of institutions, with the aim of building a strong and effective government system.

Regarding the Syrian refugee issue, he stressed the need to provide a safe environment for their return, while providing the necessary support in the economic and political aspects to facilitate this return.

He noted that implementing these steps must be done with extreme caution and precision, under the supervision of specialized teams to ensure their success and achieve the desired results.

The meeting touched on the need for continuous coordination with the international community to ensure the sustainability of political and economic solutions, and to implement institutional reforms that would improve the situation in Syria in the long term.
