Mine-clearance operations are continuing in the countryside of Serê Kaniyê and in areas that previously served as front lines, with a focus on clearing the main roads leading to the city in preparation for reopening them to returning displaced residents.

ANHA agency’s correspondent reached the village of Al-Asadiyah in the countryside of Zirkan and observed ongoing mine-clearance operations carried out by the Reacho Organization, which is working to reopen the Darbasiyah–Serê Kaniyê road.

The director of operations at Reacho said that mine-clearance work along the Darbasiyah–Serê Kaniyê road has reached its final stages, with 90 percent of the road cleared.

He confirmed that the road is expected to be fully cleared this week, which would help facilitate its reopening to displaced residents returning to the area.

In this context, the Mines Advisory Group (MAG) Organization continues to carry out mine-clearance operations along the Telll Tamer–Serê Kaniyê road. At the same time, it began on Sunday clearing mines and explosive remnants of war from the road linking Tell Tamer and Zirkan, as part of efforts to reopen the roads and ensure they are safe for civilian traffic. In addition, forces from the 60th Division continue to carry out mine-clearance operations in villages that previously served as front lines, with the aim of securing the areas and preparing them for the return of residents.

On Saturday, the Committee of Serê Kaniyê Displaced Persons received lists containing the names of 674 families scheduled to return to the city during the current week.
