The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights in Iran said in a statement, “During the last two weeks of last April, the Iranian authorities executed a person every five hours,” calling on countries that support human rights to put an end to executions in Iran.

The organization added, "The silence regarding the dramatic increase in the number of executions taking place inside Iranian prisons will lead to more such operations, and that among those executed were at least sixteen Baloch citizens, six Afghans, and three women."

According to human rights reports, the Iranian authorities launched a new wave of executions of prisoners in the country, taking advantage of the world's preoccupation with the war between Israel and Hamas and the Ukrainian crisis.

On April 4, in a research report entitled “Don’t Let Them Kill Us,” Amnesty International announced the execution of 853 people in Iran during the year 2023, and considered it unprecedented in the past eight years.
