The General Command of the Syrian Democratic Forces issued a statement repelling the attack, in which a joint base with the coalition forces was attacked by a suicide drone.

The text of the statement read:

“A joint base of our forces with the global coalition forces to fight ISIS was subjected to a suicide drone attack, as the attack led to the death of a US military contractor and the injury of five soldiers from the partner forces.

The town of Dhiban in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor was also bombed with 10 rocket shells, originating from areas controlled by the Damascus government forces in the western bank of the Euphrates River, where two shells hit a civilian house, injuring a woman and her daughter.

While we offer our condolences to the family of the contractor who lost his life during the attack, as well as to our partners in the global coalition, and we wish a speedy recovery for the wounded, we condemn the indiscriminate and deliberate targeting of our areas, especially those populated by civilians, and we stress the need to spare civilians and individuals not participating in hostilities targeting operations, and not to cause  in obstructing the war against ISIS.

Our forces, which fought the largest battle against the terrorist organization ISIS and achieved victory over it in Al-Baghouz, stress the continuation of their joint struggle with the international coalition against the terrorist organization and its criminal ideology, and the increase in security and military activities until the elimination of the organization's cells and ending its danger in the region, thus contributing to maintaining stability  security and protection of the population.
