Damascus government forces shell western Daraa

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights(SOHR) stated that Damscus government forces shelled villages and several houses in the cities of Tafas and Yadode in Daraas western countryside with heavy weapons and tanks. They simultaneously attempted to advance towards neighborhoods in the southern areas of western Tafas.

This comes 10 days after threats of a military attack against the head of the security commitee and notables in Daraa was made. They were threatened with an attack if they refused to cooperate and don`t hand over people wanted by the government. During the meeting on July 25, Damascus government forces asked for the notables to hand over accused persons.

Yesteday, Damascus government forces prevented farmers from reaching their crop fields and came simultaneously with their military reinforments to  western Daraa.

The Damascus government forces in the region are in a state of emergency. A military checkpoint was built in Ray region on the road between the towns of Yadode and Mizerib in western Daraa.

Groups affiliated with the Damascus government forces attacked houses in Bekara and threatened the citizens with burning down the town and destroy it as an answer to an attacks against a military vehicle close to Bekare in western Daraa, where an officer and a member of the 5th Division were injured as a result.

Yesterday, Damascus government forces dispatched 8 military vehicles with soldiers along with armored vehicles, artillery and several other vehicles towards Daraa stadium
