TAJÊ with message on anniversary of August 3 genocide: We will defend ourselves, our land and community

The Yezidi Women`s Freedom Movement (TAJÊ), released a statement on the occasion of the anniversary of the August 3 genocide.

The statement began with commemorating the martyrs of the genocide and the Shengal resistance: “ We commemorate with great honor those martyrs who sacrificed their lives against the brutality of ISIS in the defense of their land and the Yezidi community. We bow our heads in honor of their memory.”

It was pointed out that the August 3 genocide was carried out against the Yezidi community in front of the eyes of the entire world. At the same time it was also carried out against humanity.

The statement reminded that the KDP and Iraqi army fled and ran away, which resulted in a massacre and abduction of thousands of Yezidies and the migration of hundreds of thousands.

This was said on the matter: “This treason is beyond the boundaries of ethics and humanity`s conscience. This will never be forgotten.”

TAJÊ pointed out that the genocide was primarily carried out against women and children and that this was done with an aim to eradicate the Yazidi community. 

TAJÊ continued on the intervention of the HPG and YJA STAR guerillas and the YPG-YPJ fighters and said: “We as the Yazidi community, especially the Yazidi women, will never forget this fact. We all owe them, we owe Leader Apo and our martyrs. Their cause is also our cause. As the Yezidi Women`s Freedom Movement, we reiterate our promise to stand up for Leader Apo and to stand up for our martyrs.”

TAJÊ also expressed its determination to rescue all Yezidis from ISIS captivity as well as guaranteeing the Shengal Autonomy and said: “As the Yezidi community, especially Yezidi women, we will increase our leve of self-organization in all fields and raise our struggle in order to defend ourseles, our land and our community. With a will of steel, we will stand up for ourselves and lead ourselves. As TAJÊ, we say that the most powerfull weapon of all is self-defense. With this conviction, we will thwart all the games being played against us and never let another genocide take place. A truth that cannot be hidden is that every grass grows on its own root. We call on our people in the camps in Southern Kurdistan and our people living in Europe to return to their land and their roots. However big our pain is, our anger is equally big. Our 8 years of pain doesn`t leave our memories even for a moment. We will raise our struggle until we can hold the perpetrators of the genocide to account and as long as even just one of our children or women is held captive by DAESH. With our organization and determination, we will build an Autonomous Shengal.
