SDC confirms its support for popular movement in As-Suwayda

The Syrian Democratic Council issued a statement declaring its support for the popular protest movement in the Syrian governorate of As-Suwayda, stressing that "what is happening in As-Suwayda is a justified rejectionist movement whose slogan is "we want to live in dignity", and if it is renewed, it is a response to the aggravation of the catastrophic conditions that afflict the majority of Syrians."

The text of the statement stated:

“The recent facts in As-Suwayda proved that the truth of the rebellious people remains the most pure and most capable of expression and change, and it is the only one that can survive for the sake of truth and dignity despite the policies of oppression and tyranny, and that the participation of spiritual leaders, national opposition elements, and men of dignity encourages the movement to continue, develop, and provide insightful guidance until It does not fall under the weight of elements whose goal is sabotage and thus sabotage and waste efforts, and that the presence of leaders who face rumors and the policies of opponents of democratic change is an absolute necessity to ensure that the goal is not deviated.

What is happening in As-Suwayda is a justified rejectionist movement whose slogan is “we want to live in dignity.” And if it is renewed, it is a response to the aggravation of the catastrophic conditions that afflict the majority of Syrians, and not only the economic and living demands are the cause of the movement, as it is an awareness of the role of the Syrian authority in all the problems that occur, and it is the alternative in ending tyranny, establishing a democratic system of government, a state of law and institutions, a state of citizenship. It is the awareness of the Syrian components of their state of real participation in governance and in power instead of exclusion and marginalization, and instead of slogans based on protecting minorities, minorities do not need protection when citizenship is complete, and the role of the citizen is not based on its national or religious identity only, but on the effectiveness of belonging and the value of participation and recognition full constitutional rights of these components.

Any protest movement in the areas of power paves the way for the expansion of the protest action in the various areas of its control, which helps to change policies, and to overthrow the central policies of tyranny in all the joints of its system, and stopping without achieving the goal of the movement may upset the scales, so it is necessary to continue the popular movement as a necessity to complete the step next one that neutralizes the security services, and stops their ability to return to interfering in people's lives and repressing them again. The means for the success of the next step is to organize the management of life and resources, and to confirm the unity of the people and their gathering behind local representatives represented by the revolutionaries who have proven to this day that they are the zealous of their people, and that they are brave men who are present in every test to defend their people and their country.

We in the Syrian Democratic Council announce our full support for our people in As-Suwayda and for their just demands that preserve the unity of the country and protect the sovereignty of its components and the legitimate right of all Syrian components to self-manage themselves through their own will that achieves Syrian affiliation and achieves a comprehensive national identity towards a democratic decentralized Syria.
