Afrin citizens: We will stand up against the Turkish occupation

Since May 23 this year, Turkish authorities have made threats of new large-scale attacks and invasion against Tal Rafaat and Manbij. The Turkish occupation army has increased its attacts against Shahba canton and southern Afrin`s Sherawa district in light of these threats.

The Turkish occupation attempts to instill fear into the residents and force them to migrate. The majority of the casualties of their attacks are civlians. One of the latest victims of these attacks is 30 year old Zelouk Hamsho from Mayasa village in the Sherawa district, who sustained inuries. 

The citizens of the targeted regions stated that they will continue their resistance against the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries until Afrin is liberated.

Fahime Mohammed, one of the refugees, stated that they will resist against the daily shelling carried out by the Turkish occupation against the Sherawa district and said: “ After we migrated from Afrin to Sherawa, the Turkish occupation army has also carried out shelling of the places where we have settled down. As women, we confirm that we will continue to resist against these attacks.”

Fahime continued: “ We will protect these regions against the filth of the terrorists and will not allow for them to occupy our regions. We have strong faith in ourselves and the resistance against the occupiers. We will resist until Afrin is liberated.”

Another refugee, Widad Mohammed, stated that their resistance in Sherawa will ensure the possibilites of returning to Afrin and said: “ The children are not able to play anymore due to the shelling against the region. We will resist with all means in order to return to Afrin”

Widad continued by saying: “ Elderly people and children also live here. No matter what happens, we will protect our villages against the enemy. Human rights organizations and other relevant institutions are silent towards these attacks. We want to return to our homes.”

Hasan Murad, co-chair of the Sherawa District Council stated: “We are going through a historical stage here. Sherawa is a bordering district and is because of this subjected to daily shelling. Not even the Return Camp has been spared from these attacks”

Murad stated that the people have chosen the path of resistance and promised to stay in Sherawa to resist against the mercenaries. He further stated that resistance is the only path their people will follow.

Murad concluded by saying: “ Threats will never break the will of our people. We are ready to confront and thwart these attacks. The forces of Iran, Russia and the Damascus government are not important to us and we will not rely on them. We are well aware that these forces only work according to their own interests. We insist on staying. We are very well aware that they will leave us behind if it serves in their interest.

As known, the residents who are living in the villages of Sherawa district are daily subjected to shelling by the Turkish occpation army and its mercenaries.
