The Yezidis of Şengal district have been subjected, since 2014, to a continuous genocidal attack, carried out by the Turkish occupation state, the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and the collaborators with the Turkish occupation state in the Baghdad government.

After ISIS failed to carry out the genocide, Turkey directly intervened and bombed dozens of Yazidis through warplanes and drones.

However before attacking Şengal by the Turkish occupation, mercenaries of Kurdistan Democratic Party launched an attack on Khansur district on March 3, 2017, which resulted in martyrdom of 7 fighters from the Şengal Resistance Units and fighters from the People's Defense Forces (HPG) and the member In the Yazidi Women's Freedom Movement Nazi Nayef and journalist Nujian Arhan, who was martyred on March 22.

The following is a statistic of the attacks and raids of the Turkish occupation state against Şengal and its people, the most recent of which was the one that caused the death of the child Salah in Sinuni district on June 15.

The first attack on Rojava and Şengal in April 2017 to avenge of ISIS defeats.

In conjunction with the bombing of the headquarters of the General Command of the People’s Protection Units on April 25, 2017, in Mount Qarchoug, which resulted in martyrdom of 20 male and female fighters, the Turkish occupation planes bombed separate areas in Mount Şengal as well.

At that time, a citizen was martyred and a fighter in the Şengal Resistance Units was wounded, in addition to complete collapse of the ÇIRA Radio building, near the Amud area, causing great damage to the garden of the leader Abdullah Ocalan.

On August 15, 2018, while he was returning from a memorial ceremony for the martyrs of the village of Kocho who were martyred by ISIS mercenaries in 2014, the car of a member of the Yazidi Community Coordination Committee, Mam Zaki Shankali in Wadi Shalo, was bombed by Turkish plane, which led to his martyrdom instantly, Maher Sarhad Shankali, a fighter in the Shingal Resistance Units, succumbed to his injury on the 29th of the same month.

Also, on January 13, 2018, the village of Sakina, located to the west of Şengal, was bombed by the Turkish occupation warplanes, which resulted in only material damage.

2019 and 2020 attacks

On December 13, 2019, 3 civilians from the city of Kobani in Rojava who had gone to work in digging wells were martyred during the bombing by Turkish drones of sites in Mount Singal.

In November 2019, around 13:00, a Turkish drone bombed the Khansur district, led to martyrdom 6 fighters of the Şengal Resistance Units.

In 2020, at 10:30 on January 15, the Turkish occupation state attacked the village of Dikri, which belongs to the Sinuni district, using warplanes and drones. In this attack, the commander-in-chief of the Şengal Resistance Units, Zardasht Shankali, the fighters Hamid Shankali, Sherfan Gilo and Ezdin Shankali were martyred, and another fighter was wounded.

On June 15, 2020, in conjunction with an attack on Makhmour camp and the legitimate defense areas, a field hospital in the Sardashti area near the camp for the displaced who had survived from ISIS mercenaries was bombed, in addition to bombing a number of other sites in Mount Şengal near the shrine of Jal Mira, then the attack came days after Secret visit by Turkish intelligence chief Hakan Fidan to Iraq.

On November 9, 2020, the Turkish occupation state bombed the village of Bara in Khansour district with drones, which led to martyrdom of a civilian and a fighter from the Şengal Resistance Units, and wounded 2 others.

On August 16, 2021, at 12:12 in the afternoon, a plane belonging to the Turkish occupation state bombed the car of the leader in the Şengal resistance units Saeed Hassan while he was in the old market in the center of Şengal city.

A day later, on August 17, a Turkish warplane targeted a hospital in the village of Saknia, which was designated to treat the people of the area and the fighters of the Şengal Resistance Units. And medicine, namely, Elias Rasho, Hajji Khader and Mukhles Sidar, in addition to the complete destruction of the hospital.

On December 7, 2021, a drone targeted the car of the co-chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Şengal Marwan Badal, who was traveling with his two children in Khansour district, which led to his martyrdom and injury of his two children.

Then, on Saturday, on December 11, 2021, the Turkish occupation aircraft targeted the People’s Assembly in Khansour district, Şengal district, which led to great material damage.

On September 2, of the same year, a drone bombed a point of Asayish Ezidkhan in the Şengal district, injuring two people. The deadliest air attack since 2017 happened on February 1, 2022 On February 1, 2022, the district of Şengal was subjected to the heaviest air attack carried out by several warplanes of the Turkish occupation state.

During the hour 22:00, strategic areas at the summit of Mount Şengal (Amud and Jal Mira) were subjected to intense bombardment.

On January 21, 2022, in conjunction with the attack by ISIS mercenaries on Al-Sina'a prison in Al-Hasakah, two cars belonging to the Şengal resistance units were targeted by the Turkish occupation aircraft in Wadi Shalo, which resulted in the martyrdom of the leader Azad Izz Al-Din and the fighter Anwar Tolhildan.

On June 15, the People's Assembly in the district of Sinuni and neighboring stores were hit by two successive raids by the Turkish occupation aircraft.

During the bombing, 12-year-old Salah Nasso was martyred, while 8 other people were wounded, some of them seriously.

While the last attacks of the Iraqi army were on the 2nd of last May, when it brought in huge military reinforcements, accompanied by helicopters, targeting Asayish Ezidikhan points in Sinuni district and Dokri village.
