In 2016 Turkish occupation forces crossed the border into northern Syria occupying large swathes of Syrian lands in Azaz, Jarablus, Bab then Afrin and Gire Spi and Sere Kaniye. The Turkish occupation state imposed the currency and language on the people in those areas and it seeks to exterminate the cultural, social and historical heritage of the peoples of those area in a bid to be detached from Syria in future.

Recently the Turkish occupation state threatened to launch a new incursion into the region that received much popular discontent in NES.  To shed light on the matter ANHA met Co-chair of the Executive Council of the  Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Jazira Region Talat Yunus who said that since the very onset of the crisis in the country Turkish occupation state exploits the situation in the country via supporting mercenary groups to pass on its ambitions and projects in the region and sought to occupy more Syrian lands and to change its demography to be annexed to Turkey. Yunus said all of these measure are to revive the out-dated Ottoman legacy in the region.

Yunus indicated that the Turkish occupation state occupied Jarablus, Azaz and Bab then Afrin and Idlib and Sere Kaniye and committed horrendous crimes against the people of the region that were enforced to be displaced settling in their places newcomers all funded by Qatari and Kuwaiti bodies.

''the Turkish occupation state aims to occupy more lands in Syria extending from Aleppo to Mosul and Kirkuk in Iraq as it aspires to and to redraw the pre-Lausanne treaty reality that ends in 2023. It tries to exploit the international circumstances and the war between Ukraine and Russia and to get a green light to carry out military operation as it announces it would target Tal Rifat and Manbij'', Yunus said.

Yunus said the Turkish regime tries to receive support form chauvinist and nationalist groups to commit more crimes and massacres against the Kurdish people and other peoples of the region.

Yunus noted the Turkish occupation state targets the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the gains made in North and East Syria. Yunus touched upon the stances adopted by the U.S. and Russian Federation that guaranteed the ceasefire agreements, ''up to date Turkey has not received a green light from either U.S. or Russia to carry out a new military incursion into NES. All statements express rejection of such an operation. Turkey tries to play the cards it has to pass on its plots in the region.

On a potential Turkish operation into NES Yunus said '' it would create a new reality on the ground in the whole region and it would create a catastrophic humanitarian crisis that would undermine the chances of a solution that seek to combat ISIS and that would give succor to ISIS to resurge anew''.

Yunus added '' any attempt to launch a military operation into Syria would bring in anarchy and mess onto the whole geography of Syria and would deepen and complicate the crisis and would end in occupation of more Syrian lands. This would tear up the Syrian social fabric and geography and a new de facto reality on the ground''.
