SDF military council holds exceptional meeting to discuss repercussions any possible Turkish attack 

The Syrian Democratic Forces SDF said that its military council held an extraordinary meeting to discuss the latest developments in north and east Syria following Turkish threats of a "possible invasion" targeting the region, stressing that it had discussed the repercussions of the "invasion" on the humanitarian situation and the war against ISIS/ Daesh.

On Tuesday, the General Command of the Syrian Democratic Forces issued a statement to the public, in which it praised the positions of the people of the region for their support, calling on them to continue their support regarding any decision they take to confront the Turkish aggression. The forces also renewed their readiness to cooperate with the forces of the Damascus government to confront any possible Turkish aggression.

Stressing that the "potential Turkish invasion" would affect the stability and unity of Syrian territory, it stressed the forces' readiness to coordinate with the Damascus government forces to repel any possible Turkish attack and protection Syrian territory.

The statement reads:

With attendance the leaders of the military councils and factions, the Military Councils of the SDF held an extraordinary meeting to discuss the latest developments in NE, Syria areas, regarding Turkish threats of launching any possible attacks on the region.

 During the meeting, the General Command was briefed in detail on the details of the Turkish attacks that targeted the areas of Tal Tamr, Zerghan, Manbij and al-Shahba, where the commanders of the military councils in those areas explained the recent conditions and their impact on the lives of civilians and ways to protect them.

The meeting discussed the impact of any new Turkish invasion on the humanitarian situation in the regions of north and east Syria and the targeted areas in particular, as it was emphasized that any aggression would return the Syrians to the first square of the Syrian crisis, and that the occupation projects, including the recent threats, are only a prelude to the division of Syria.

The meeting also discussed the impact of the Turkish invasion on the war against ISIS, as the danger of ISIS benefiting from the recent situation caused by the occupation’s attacks has increased.

The meeting affirmed that the Syrian Democratic Forces prioritize De-escalation and commitment to agreements, stressing at the same time the forces' readiness to protect the region and its residents from any possible attacks, stressing on raising readiness and completing preparations to confront aggression with a long-term war.

The meeting also stressed that the possible Turkish invasion will affect the stability and unity of the Syrian territories, so confronting it will not be limited to the targeted areas only, but will expand its scope to include other areas within the occupied Syrian territories.

The meeting valued the positions of the people of the region for their support of the Syrian Democratic Forces, calling for continued support and assistance and to support any decision taken by the forces to confront the Turkish aggression.

The meeting also affirmed the forces' readiness to coordinate with the Damascus government forces to repel any possible Turkish attack and protect Syrian lands by confronting the occupation.
