​​​​​​​Lawyers: Turkey's use of chemicals contravenes international law

In April 25 HGP Media Office said in a statement that Turkish occupation state used chemical weapons against their fighters seven times in two weeks.

On the issue lawyers in the Jazira Region were interviewed by ANHA. They laid much stress on the necessity of action by the human and legal organizations towards use by the Turkish occupation state of chemical weapons and gases. 

Shahine Lale clarified that practices of the fascist Turkish occupation state whether inside Turkey or outside contravene the international laws saying:'' it commits crimes against peoples and citizens in Northern Kurdistan. Rojava and Southern Kurdistan''.  

Shahine said Turkish occupation state uses chemical weapons in the attacks it carries out '' according to the United Nations conventions using chemical weapons amount to war crimes. Besides, it flagrantly breaches the non-proliferation of chemical weapons convention of 1993.   

Shahine noted that the Turkish occupation state does whatever it likes, it respects no borders or any commitments. It carries out attacks on many areas without being asked about that. Legal organizations preserve silence on this regard unfortunately''.

Shahine said ''tis silence is due to mutual interests such as the economic ones and the military conventions. We see how a member of the United Nations contravenes the international law without any accountability. ''

HPG said in 2021 Turkish occupation state used the chemical weapons and gases 367 times.

From her part, Ghufran Khelef said the use by the Turkish occupation state of chemical weapons is a contravention of all laws and international treaties. This is reflected in the shelling and attacks it carries out''.

Ghufran said Turkish occupation state uses chemical weapons and gases against the people of North and East Syria and it proceeds to use this weapon in Southern Kurdistan''. 

Ghufran said behind the silence preserved the Turkish occupation state believes itself to be above any accountability of the Security Council of the United Nations and the United Nations charter.

''all international organizations should take a firm and a serious stance on the topic'', Ghufran concluded.
