Eastern Easter, the Feast of Resurrection, is known as the greatest and largest Christian holiday, in which Christians remember the resurrection of Christ, peace be upon him, from the dead three days after his crucifixion and death, as it is written in the New Testament.  The Passion, and the continuous time of Resurrection begins in the liturgical year forty days until Pentecost.

The celebration began in the Mardudo and Marshmoni churches in Dêrik with the sound of church bells and the performance of prayers, hymns and rituals for Easter.

Where the Christians in Derik (Syriac, Assyrian and Chaldean) went to the churches to celebrate the feast rites since the afternoon hours.

The ceremony began after prayers and hymns were held by the priest of the Church of Marshmoni, Bechara Shamoun.

After the mass celebrating Easter, the Syrian Scouts Troupe, the Fourth Scout Regiment, began presenting a number of musical performances, after the ark passed in front of the church yard.

Then the participants carried the coffin decorated with roses on their shoulders and toured it in front of the Church of the Marshmoni, amidst the bells of the church.

As part of the Easter ceremonies, eggs are colored and distributed to children, indicating the birth of a new life for the Syriacs, Assyrians and Chaldeans, in addition to decorating churches and homes.
