The delegation was received by the co-chair of the Department of Foreign Relations, Abdul Karim Omar, and the two co-chairs, Abeer Elia and Fanar Al-Kait, where they discussed many files and issues related to north and east Syria.  The delegation was presented with a picture of the recent events and attacks in Al-Hasakah prison (Al-Sina’a) and Al-Hol camp, which were targeting ISIS cells through which they spread chaos and control the city of Al-Hasakah and then on the rest of the areas, thus reviving ISIS again.

Dr. Abdul Karim Omar spoke about the sensitivity of the current stage and the need to take serious steps towards the file of ISIS detainees and their families and the importance of concerted international efforts in this framework and cooperation with the Autonomous Administration to reduce terrorism and its danger to the regions of northeastern Syria and the world alike, stressing the urgent need to support the Syrian Democratic Forces and  the internal security forces and security agencies militarily, and provide the necessary supplies and techniques to confront the threat of terrorism and ISIS cells.

Omar added: “The international community should increase economic and relief support for the AA in order to provide services and support the health and education sectors to rehabilitate the communities that have remained under the rule of the Islamic State (ISIS) for years, in order to block the way for ISIS to enter these areas.”

Omar noted that “the AA, after the defeat of the organization in Baghouz since 2019, called for the establishment of a court for the organization’s fighters and demanded all countries that have nationals in the region to restore them, but the international community is still remiss in this regard and the response is insufficient and the continuation of the situation in this way will lead to a humanitarian catastrophe and will enable ISIS  of reorganizing its ranks.

Ambassador Zabidov, for his part, said: “It is important for the international community to assume its responsibilities towards the terrorism file, and for each country to take responsibility for its nationals present in the region;  He added that the situation in the prisons and camps is serious and dangerous and must be dealt with carefully.
