Kongra Star calls on international institutions to recognize Shengal Genocide

Today, August 3rd, marks the 7th anniversary of the 73rd Firman against the Yazidis in Shengall, which was carried out by ISIS mercenaries in 2014, with the support of the Turkish state, in this massacre 5,000 women were slaved, their fate is still unknown, horrible crimes were committed against thousands the Yazidi people and the world states did lift a finger.

On this occasion, the Coordination of Kongra Star issued a written statement to the public opinion, saying, "We, at Kongra Star in Rojava, North and East Syria, condemn and denounce the genocide against the Yazidis in Shengal, which occurred on August 3rd, 2014, at the hands of the ISIS terrorist organization, which tried to eliminate of the original roots of the Kurdish people.

Adding "This crime is considered by the Yazidis as the 73rd genocide against them, in which thousands of Yazidis were killed in mass massacres, and thousands of women and children were kidnapped, and they were taken to the slave markets in Raqqa and Mosul cities, where the fate of thousands of them is still unknown until now, resulting in making a rift in the Yazidi community and subjecting it to a major genocide.”

The statement continued, "The People Defence Forces, HPG, the Free Women's Units YJA-STAR, the People's Protection Units and the Women's Protection Units YPG and YPJ took the humanitarian initiative and opened a humanitarian crossing between Shengal and Rojava to save the Yazidis from this genocide, without the Peshmerga forces moving in the Kurdistan region, and it was the salvation large number of them from the massacre with supporting of the people in Rojava to protect them from the massacre.

The statement stated, "Until now, at this time, and on the 7th anniversary of this genocide, neither the governments of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government, KRG, have taken any initiative to protect the Yazidi presence in Shengal, and the Kurdistan Region administration has not taken any initiative to protect this presence and this administration, which was the result of the sacrifices of the sons of and the daughters of the Yazidi people in Shengal, who have suffered from the scourge of the terrorist organization and from massacres and extermination throughout history.

The statement called on the United Nations, the Security Council, the European Union and the international community in general, to recognize the genocide that took place against the Yazidis in Shengal on August 3rd, 2014, and to recognize its Autonomous Administration, which is a protection for its existence and entity, as recognized by the parliaments of Belgium and the Netherlands.

In conclusion, the statement called on all international institutions to do their duty and recognize this genocide that occurred against the Yazidi people.
