Renj Othman explained that the Turkish state imposed its control culturally over Başûr Kurdistan (Southern Kurdistan) before its occupation, through its cultural products such as dubbed Turkish drama and many other ways. He says, "Through imposing its culture, Turkey managed to control minds, and this paved the way for it to impose its military control later on."

Othman added, "Since the nineties of the last century, the Turkish state has imposed its control over Southern Kurdistan by building many military bases."

He continued, "Turkish intelligence is present to impose its control over its economy and natural resources, while the people of Southern Kurdistan are living in difficult economic conditions, and they have the right to benefit from their country's resources, but the Turkish state is monopolizing them in agreement with their government."

Southern Kurdistan officials are a pawn in the hands of Turkey

Regarding the relationship between the Turkish state and the officials of Başûr Kurdistan (Southern Kurdistan), Othman pointed out that "it is very close, and this is what made the Turkish state consider its officials as pawns that it moves as appropriate to its colonial interests."

The journalist highlighted the silence of Southern Kurdistan government "in the face of all violations being practiced by the Turkish state, the government until now has not shown any position and has not been able to condemn these crimes."

Turkish quest to find a foothold

Othman noted that the Turkish state is bombarding the lands of Başûr Kurdistan (Southern Kurdistan) under the pretext of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement fighters' presence. He said, "In my personal opinion, the Turkish state is imposing its control more under these pretexts, and it seeks to find a foothold that lasts for more than 30 years."

People will not remain silent

Concerning the repression and abduction of activists and the delegations coming from abroad, Othman pointed out, "The policy pursued by the government of Southern Kurdistan is based on corruption and the suppression of freedoms. This is not a new matter, and its consequences will be dire and will be reflected in the future."

Journalist Ranj Othman stressed that "the people of Southern Kurdistan will not remain silent in the face of these arbitrary policies pursued by the government against them."
