The hunger strike campaign launched by political detainees inside Turkish prisons has been ongoing since November 27, 2020 to end the tight isolation imposed on the leader Abdullah Ocalan and put an end to the violations that detainees are subjected to in prisons.

About the strike campaign, Hawar news agency's reporter monitored the opinions of Afrin Council's members in al-Shahba canton.

The Council's Member, Fakhri Suleiman, expressed his support for the hunger strike campaign, and said: "It is for the Leader Abdullah Ocalan's freedom, against whom the conspiracy still continues, and we support everyone who joined this campaign."

'A sacred duty'

He added, "The campaign is a solemn matter, the detainees on strike want to protect their people and right, and this shows their strong resistance and will."

He continued, "We know that Turkish fascism resorts to abduction and imprisonment to undermine the Kurdish people's will, but what we knew thanks to the thought of Leader Ocalan makes us continue to struggle for our cause against all conspirators."

At the conclusion, Suleiman appealed to international organizations concerned with human rights to put an end to the Turkish violations, stressing that their silence makes them accomplices in these violations.

'An extension of Mazloum Dogan's resistance'

In her turn, the Member of Afrin Council in al-Shahba canton, Hanifa Koja, said that "the resistance shown by the detainees inside Turkish prisons is an extension of the resistance of Mazloum Dogan and his companions."

She added, "We, Afrin's young women, seek to organize ourselves by working to escalate the pace of struggle against all Turkish schemes aimed at erasing Kurds and weakening women's role," noting that they drew their determination from the leader Abdullah Ocalan's thought.
