On Sunday, a number of members of the Yazidi Union of Afrin canton and the Federation of Yazidi Women gathered in front of the Union Centre located in Al-Ahdath district in Shahba canton to deliver a statement, which was delivered in Arabic by Union Administrator, Aisha Seido.

At the outset, the statement noted that "the process of systematic demographic change in Afrin canton is still ongoing in full swing by fanatical groups those who are operating under the direct supervision of Turkish Occupying State.

He added: “With the beginning of the brutal attack of the Turkish Army on the safe canton of Afrin in 2018, the ISIS elements retreating from the battles of Şengal, Mosul and Kobani, who were regrouped, trained, armed and directed by Turkey towards Afrin to avenge ISIS in the areas it lost, were calling for the extermination of the Yazidis in Afrin, so they destroyed all shrines. The Yazidis in them are in full view of the Turkish Occupation Army, which still remained silent towards the mercenaries' violations who work under its orders."

He continued: “The atrocities of Turkey's hardliners had been neglected by Turkey, and they turned a blind eye to what they are doing in order to reach their goals (Turkey) brought in some militant associations from Qatar, Kuwait and Palestine, whose ideas coincide with the extremist ideology of the head of the Justice and Development Party under religious names to construct mosques, open Quran memorization houses, build settlements in Yazidi villages, and bring in Turkmen and non-Syrian elements in order to reach a change in the demography of the canton, as Turkey was not satisfied with reducing the number of Yazidi villages to twenty-two instead of about sixty villages that were inhabited by the Yazidis.

The Union appealed to "all concerned countries, especially the United States, Russia, the European Union and human rights organizations to put pressure on Turkey to stop the activities of militant Islamic societies in Afrin and to stop the demographic change in it, and Turkey to withdraw from all the lands it occupies, especially Afrin and Tal-Abyed in order for its people who live far from their homes to return to it." In harsh conditions, at a time when settlers coming from all directions are enjoying bounties of the occupied territories. "

The statement ended with the audience chanting slogans saluting the resistance of the age and the resistance of the people of Afrin in the camps.
