​​​​​​​SDF announces completion of combing campaign in Wadi Al-Ajeej

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that, with the support of the International Coalition, they had ended the combing operation that they had launched in Wadi Al-Ajeej area in Deir Ezzor countryside, in addition to carrying out missile strikes targeting specific locations used by ISIS cells to move between Syria and Iraq.

The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces issued a statement in this regard, in which it said: "Today, Wednesday, May 12th, our forces completed a sweep operation in Wadi Al-Ajeej in the northeastern countryside of Deir Ezzor."

It added: "The operation that took place with the support of the International Coalition on the ground and air lasted for 4 days, accompanied by continuous hovering of the International Coalition aircrafts over the area, and the implementation of missile strikes targeting specific sites used by ISIS organization's cells."

The statement added: "The forces managed to comb parts of Wadi Al-Ajeej area with the aim of uncovering the smuggling routes used by ISIS to move within north and east Syria, and in the movement of terrorist cells to and from Iraq, as they were controlled, preventing the terrorist organization from utilizing them. Furthermore, a number of caches in which ISIS elements used to hide were disclosed, and they were also used to hide weapons and equipment during their movement between Iraq and north-east Syria, as 12 of them were destroyed."

The statement concluded by saying: "On the same level, the forces conducted patrols near the border with Iraq and in areas adjacent to the Euphrates River during the operation, and met with a number of people in the region, stressing the implementation of the operation to protect them from ISIS cells active in the region."
