Last Sunday morning, the Syrian Democratic Forces launched a large - scale military and security operation in the northern and northeastern countryside of the city of Deir ez - Zor, in an attempt to combat the cells of ISIS mercenaries that are moving in the valley area and along the Syrian - Iraqi border.

According to ANHA correspondent in the region, a military source involved in the security operation in Wadi Al-Eajij, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have found several methods recently used by ISIS cells to smuggle mercenaries and weapons.

According to the same source, the International Coalition Forces targeted dozens of newly established trenches in the area, destroying them through guided rockets from vehicles and UAVs of the coalition forces participating in the campaign.

In a telephone call with ANHA agency, the Director of the Syrian Democratic Forces Media Centre, Farhad Shami, confirmed that the security operation in the north and east of Deir ez-Zor, during its first two days of launch, had failed plans that the cells were seeking to implement in the region: "The operation came as part of the fight against ISIS cells after a return of movement was observed in this desert area."
