'Isedi: Turkish Occupation threatens North Eastern Syria with thirst

Since 27 January of this year, the Turkish Occupying State has continued to reduce the water level of the Euphrates river flowing into Syrian territory to 200 cubic meters per second instead of the 500 cubic meters agreed between the Syrian and Turkish Governments in 1987.

The reduction in water has reduced the supply of electricity to the region, caused significant damage to the agricultural sector and threatened the water of the river, on which several Syrian cities rely to secure drinking water.

In this context, the spokesman for the notables of Manbij city, Mohammad Sadiq Al - Asidi, said during a meeting with Hawar news agency ANHA that Turkey exploited the internal conflict for its favor, Syria is divided not united."

Mohammed Sadiq Al-Asidi noted that the Turkish State had committed all kinds of criminality against the Syrian people, and when it had failed militarily to intervene in Syria, it had tortured the Syrian people by reducing the level of the water. It notes that Turkey "claims Islam while Islam does not carry out such acts but rather calls for mercy and peace."

He explained that the Turkish State by lowering the Euphrates "wants to kill and thirst the Syrian people to carry out its colonial plans in Syria," noting that scarce water would lead to serious diseases for the Syrian people.

The spokesman for notables of Manbj city, Mohammed Sadiq Al-Asidi, concluded: "We clans stand together with the Syrian Democratic Forces and call for unity among the Syrian people. We appeal to the international community and human rights organizations to intervene quickly to resolve the water problem because the problem of a severe thirst will be solved in the country."
