August 3, 2014, a day the Yazidis cannot forget, as history recorded it as a new genocide (Farman) against the Yazidi community, as ISIS mercenaries launched a brutal attack on the district in Southern Kurdistan, after the Iraqi army and the Kurdistan Democratic Forces abandoned it, where they left the people without protection; Groups of Peoples Defense Forces fighters from the mountains of Kurdistan would intervene, while YPG fighters and Asayish forces from Rojava towards the borders of Şingal opened a humanitarian corridor to lead families stranded on the mountain to safety.

With the security of families in Rojava, the Yazidi youth, with the support of the fighters of the People's Protection Units, Women and the People Defense Forces, formed the "Şingal Resistance Units", a day after the August 4, 2014 attack.

Since that time, the Şingal resistance units and the Asayish Ezidkhan forces have taken upon themselves to protect Şingal and his people to ensure that the massacres against them do not recur, and for the young Yazidi women to form a force of their own and participated in the campaign to liberate the city of Raqqa.

According to the district, the forces formed of young Yazidis would be the only ones entitled to carry out protection missions in Şingal.

While the Autonomous Administration, which was formed on January 14, 2015, undertook the administration and the organization of its people.

On April 1, 2018, the HPG announced the withdrawal of its forces from Şingal, after it successfully completed its tasks, laying the foundation stone in the defense of the region, leaving the protection tasks to Şingal forces.

However, the hostility to the Iraqi government, the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and the Turkish occupation against Şingal did not stop, as it looked for any window to return to Şingal after leaving it.

On October 9, 2020, the government of Iraq, led by Mustafa Al-Kazemi, and the Hewler government, led by the Kurdistan Democratic Party, announced an agreement, which they said was to regulate security and administrative matters in the district of Şingal.

Since the first day of its announcement, it was met with resentment by the Yazidi community, which considered it a continuation of the massacres and said that it “is a decree under the name of law.” He also confirmed that those who left him facing death would not be allowed to return to Şingal and return it to before 2014.

As a reaction to this agreement, which did not take into account the opinion of the people of Şingal regarding the management and protection of their area, the people of the Şingal district went out in mass demonstrations to express their rejection of it and issued a statement in which they set two basic conditions for accepting the agreement, namely:

1- Involving the people of Şingal in making any decision regarding the administration, and that the administration that will be elected in the future should be from the people of Şingal and those residing in it.

2- Forming a committee with the active participation of its people.

However, the two parties did not turn back to the demands of the people, and confirmed their intention to invade Şingal militarily in the event that the terms of the agreement were not implemented and to confirm the dissolution of the Şingal Resistance Units and Asayish Izidkhan.

The Turkish role was never absent from this agreement, since Turkey failed to end the Yazidi presence in Şingal, Erdogan did not calm down, and began with the constant threat and air attacks that targeted Şingal.

By targeting the Yazidi elite, the Turkish occupation tried to direct strikes against the Yazidi resistance and administration, such as member of the Yazidi Community Coordination, Mam Zaki and after him Mam Bashir, and Commander in Chief of the Resistance Units singal Zardasht.

However, the Yazidi community, after the two leaders' martyrdom, announced the escalation of its struggle and its continuation of resistance and the protection of Şingal.

The agreement would be the last card in Turkey's hand that puts pressure on the Iraqi governments and the PDK to implement their occupation policies in the region.

The Turkish Defense Minister, Hulusi Akar, arrived in the capital, Baghdad, on an unannounced visit during January of this year, during which he met Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi and his Iraqi counterpart Jumah Anad, while Al-Kazemi visited Turkey in December 2020, in which he met upon his arrival with Erdogan.

The direct threat to Erdogan, which came after the failure of Iraq and Hewler to implement his policy in Şingal, and after Friday prayers in Istanbul on January 22 of this year, he said, “We may come by surprise one night,” referring to the possibility of carrying out a Turkish attack on şingal.

The deputy co-presidency of the Autonomous Administration in Şingal, Hesu Ibrahim, said in an interview with our agency: The threat to Şingalis continuous, and the hostility has not stopped.

'A Şingal delegation visits Baghdad and an Iraqi security delegation in Şingal, and promises are not fulfilled.'

Days after the announcement of the agreement, a delegation that included representatives of the Autonomous Administration Council in Şingal, dignitaries and notables of Şingal went to Baghdad to meet with Iraqi officials, and during that the Şingal delegation visited the office of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi and his advisors, in addition to meeting with representatives from the Iraqi parliament and leaders of the Sadrist movement As well as Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq, the deputy commander of Iraqi operations.

The visits resulted in the Iraqi officials discussing the demands of the people of Şingal regarding the agreement, amid promises from them to solve the Şingal case and respect the will of the Yazidis.

However, all the promises were not fulfilled, and the Iraqi government did not move except for the sake of hostility to the Yazidis and sending its military forces to invade Şingal.

In addition, a delegation from the leadership of the Popular Mobilization Forces had expressed its rejection of the agreement that was signed regarding the situation in the Şingal district, during a visit by leaders of the PMF to Şingal.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi Minister of Interior, Othman Al-Ghanmi, visited Şingal district, at the head of a security and military delegation.

To be followed in mid-March of this year by a visit by a high-ranking Iraqi security delegation to Şingal district, to meet with representatives of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Şîngal.

The delegation was headed by the National Security Adviser Qassem Al-Araji, the Chief of Staff of the Army, the Deputy Head of the National Security Agency, the Deputy Commander of the Joint Operations Command, the Commander of the Land Forces, the Director of Military Intelligence, and a number of officers within the West Nineveh Operations Command Sector.

At that time, the head of the Yazidi Freedom and Democracy Party, Omar Saleh, said, after completing the meeting, that they discussed many important and sensitive topics, the most important of which were the security situation, the role of Asayish Ezidkhan forces, the return of the displaced, the reconstruction of Şingal, and the work of the Autonomous Administration Board of Şîngal.

Saleh indicated that they discussed in detail the work of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Şingal and explained to the Iraqi delegation that it was established in accordance with Article 120 of the Iraqi constitution.

In the midst of that, the delegation had promised to deliver Şingal's demands to the capital, Baghdad, but the demands were not implemented, and the military threat against Şingal remained standing by the Iraqi army.

Asayish Izidkhan, "Our Legitimate Forces"

Since last December 2, the people of the district announced activities in support of Asayish Izidikhan in response to the demands of the two governments under the Turkish pressure to leave Şingal and hand over their weapons.

The event came after thousands of Şingal residents gathered in front of the Asayish center since the dawn hours of December 1, after a call from the Autonomous Administration called for a rally around Asayish Ezidkhan forces, and because the people insisted on their stance, then Iraqi officials requested an urgent meeting with community representatives Yazidi, who did not come out with any result except to listen to their demands.

The people set up a tent in front of the Asayish center in Şingal to support them, and since then hundreds of Yazidis have gone to participate in it.

In light of the non-stop activities and events that confirm the Yezidis' adherence to the option of resistance, the Autonomous Administration of Şingalis announced the organization of a major event to show support for Asayish Izidkhan, and despite the Iraqi forces obstructing and wounding one of the demonstrators from the village of Kar Uzair, thousands of Yazidis gathered in the center of the city of Şingal, on the date of Last March 11.

And before the start of the demonstration at that time, young Yezidis from Şingal rejected the Iraqi government's demands for the exit of Asayish Izidkhan, through meetings with our agency, and they said: Asayish Izidkhan are forces formed from the people of Şingal  at a time when the Iraqi governments and Holler abandoned him, calling on the Iraqi government to search for its sovereignty elsewhere, and remove the threat ISIS continues in Iraq.

'They did not agree on a maqam.'

Although the two parties that signed the agreement had agreed to regulate administrative matters, they did not reach any result for choosing a residency for Şingal, since the one who was nominated was among the list of supporters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and this was rejected by the Iraqi government, which wanted to on its part, in contrast to what should have been independent from the people of the judiciary, except that the choice of the Qaem Maqam was not made by their disagreement over it.

'The Iraqi army threatens to invade Mount Şingal and strong-worded responses

With the failure of the policies of the two governments, and thanks to the great resistance from the Yazidi community, the Iraqi army insisted on stationing in Mount Şingal, prompting the Yezidi religious body in Şingal to issue a strongly worded statement in which he confirmed that the attempt to control Mount Şingalis a continuation of the extermination of the Yazidis.

"We, clerics and religious scholars declare from this holy place that we will not surrender to Mount Şingal," the statement said.

The statement came at a time when the Iraqi army sent a number of soldiers to the borders of Şingal.

On April 1, 2021, the Iraqi army had threatened that it would enter Şingal, and that this date was the last deadline for Asayish Ezidkhan to surrender. However, the people headed on that day towards the summit of Mount specifically towards Jal Mera, and took themselves as shields against the advancement of the Iraqi army that did not Progressing.

On this, the vice presidency of the Autonomous Administration, Hasso Ibrahim, says, "They chose this day because it is a day that has a moral value for the people and coincides with the withdrawal of the guerrila forces from Şingal.

'Failure to implement the agreement and work to disperse the Yazidi community.'

And because the terms of the agreement were not implemented, the signatories had nothing but to disperse the Yazidi community, interfering in the religious affairs of the Yazidis.

The beginning of this policy was by choosing Hazem Tahseen Bey as an emir to succeed his father, without referring to the general Yazidis as usual.

Our ANHA agency had published a report earlier in which it talked about the attempts to disperse the Yazidis and use of some Yazidi figures to implement this under continuous incitement and a game from the PDK ... What is happening to the Yazidis?

The issue of choosing Baba Sheikh to succeed Sheikh Kharto Ismail was also not easy for the Yazidi community, as it also caused a rift between the Yazidis in Şingal and Sheikhan, and of course it was a game orchestrated by the parties of the agreement.

After that, another member of the emirate’s family appeared on the Şingali arena during April, and there was information confirming that the Iraqi government intends to choose him as a representative of the Yazidi religion recognized in Iraq, which makes the Yazidis 3 princes.

'The Iraqi army is trying to incursion and the people confront it.'

On April 20, 2021, the Iraqi army tried to enter the village of Kar Zark, southwest of Şingal, and the people of the area left the area, blocking the road in front of him and preventing him from entering.

And because the village of Karzak was the first village to resist ISIS and its youths defended  Şingal until the last breath, the issue of trying to enter the village has many implications, as it is the main gateway to incursion towards the rest of the villages in Şingal, but the army's attempt failed thanks to the resistance of the people and he returned.

'Autonomous Administration: We will resist and did not accept the agreement from the beginning.'

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of Şingal announced its rejection, and announced that it would take the resistance as an approach to thwart it, and in this period the Autonomous Administration held more than one emergency meeting for it.

The most important meeting held by the administration was that was held on the 25th of March, in which, along with the members of the board of directors, leaders from the  Şingal Resistance Units and Asayish participated in it.

After a meeting that lasted 3 hours, the Autonomous Administration came out with a statement, in which it said, "The solution to the  Şingal issue lies in the recognition of the Autonomous Administration system in  Şingal, and announced that it will not dissolve the Asayish forces, and will not accept that the Iraqi army be deployed in the holy places in Mount  Şingal." In the face of it. "

'The decision to execute the four young men is an attempt to distance the Yazidis from their basic demands'

On the 21st of April, the Mosul court issued a death sentence against four young Yezidis who were arrested by the Iraqi security forces on charges of killing two young men from the Al-Shammar clan on September 16, 2020, on the road between Tal Uzair and Şingal.

Since then, the Yazidis in  Şingal have demonstrated and organized peaceful events to reject the decision. The Yazidis said about the matter: “Thousands of ISIS mercenaries who carried out the massacres against us are free and we will not accept our youth being executed for a charge they did not commit.

While the reactions escalated to include the Yezidis in northern and eastern Syria as well, who rejected the decision, and emphasized that it would increase the rift between the components of  Şingal and open a space for strife between the Yazidis and the Shammar.

Hasso Ibrahim pointed out that the issuance of the decision at this time and the fueling of the issue, comes within the framework of the Yazidis' exclusion from their main demands for recognition of their self-administration and causing chaos in Şingal.
